Here in the Barony of Arn Hold, we study civilian combat of what the Society for Creative Anachronism considers late period (1450-1600).

As scholars of the arte of rapier, we practice many forms of the combat: Single Rapier, Rapier and Dagger, Case of Rapier, Cloak and Rapier, Buckler and Rapier, and several variants on the above.

The accepted blade for our style of combat is the schlager blade.  The blade can vary from 34 inches to 45 inches and has had the edges taken off and the tip blunted.  The hilts used are mainly the cup hilt and swept hilts.

We have an authorization process and armor standards that need to be met before participation in combat.

This is not choreographed combat.  This is simulated combat with the blows being called upon the honor system.  Blows to the head, torso and inner thigh are considered killing blows, while blows to the arms, hands, feet and legs are considered wounds and limit the used of the stuck extremity.
